Art through the Ages Day 2

Art through the Ages: Rome and Cathedrals

In the morning we studied Rome. We learned Roman numerals and made clocks with Roman numerals.

Then we went on a conquest to find a new space to build cities in, just like the Romans did.

We looked at the map and talked about how far Romans traveled when they conquered new places.

Then we began to build...
and build...
and build...
The kids built lots of cities.

It the afternoon we learned how cathedrals were build and then built our own.

and made stained glassed windows, too.

The cathedrals came out just great!

Art Through the Ages Day 1

Art Through the Ages Monday

Today was our first day of Art Through the Ages at Columbus Academy. In this camp we are learning about history through art.

In the morning we learned about Prehistoric Art. First we made clay pots out of air dry clay.

Then we made cave drawings to hang on the wall in the hallway.

Prehistoric man used hand prints to sign his paintings so some of the kids tired it too!

We hung the paintings on the wall of our "cave."

After lunch we learned about Ancient Egypt and made Egyptian tombs with mummies in them!

Tomorrow we study ancient Rome and Medieval Cathedrals

Music and Arts Festival

Music and Arts Festival

Survived the Music and Art Festival this weekend. Did pretty good!  Worried about rain, but it just rained for about half an hour on Sunday. I closed down the sides of the tent and nothing got wet! It was hot and a bit windy. My panels blew over first thing on Saturday, but I set them back up and weighted them down and I was good to go for the rest of the weekend.

It was a great weekend!
